China has sentenced two Tibetans, Lobsang Gyaltsen and Loyak, to death for their alleged involvement in last year's protests in Lhasa. This update contains an Urgent Action on their behalf to the Chinese Minister of Justice.

URGENT ACTION: Stop The Executions!
On April 8th, China sentenced two Tibetans, Lobsang Gyaltsen and Loyak, to death for their alleged involvement in last year’s protests in Lhasa. Two others, Phuntsok and Kangtsuk, were also sentenced to death but with a two year reprieve, and Dawa Sangpo was sentenced to life imprisonment.

New Report Highlights Chinese Influence in Australia
Courting the Dragon, a new report by the Australia Tibet Council, catalogues numerous incidents of Chinese officials breaching international diplomatic norms in attempts to influence Australian politicians over Tibet. The report also appraises the extent to which the Government, universities and civil society may already have succumbed to improper Chinese interference and calls for a thorough and independent inquiry into attempts by Chinese officials to influence policy and decision-making in Australia. Tibet Re-opens to Foreigners. Or Does it?
The Chinese Government's recent announcement that it has “re-opened Tibet to foreigners” may leave the impression of free and unfettered access to Tibetan areas. The reality is quite different. Access to Tibet was already tightly controlled prior to the near total lockout that followed the wave of protests beginning in March last year. Today’s controls are unlikely to be any less restrictive. Read more
