Dear Greens Member/Supporter,
This weekend will see the Safe Climate Rally held in capital cities across the country. The Australian Greens are endorsing these rallies.
One of the demands of the rallies is that the Senate refuse to pass the Rudd Government's emissions trading legislation.
This will be a critical period in the Senate. Our Senators will be put under great pressure from the media and vested interests to pass this flawed legislation. We need to make it understood that real action is needed on climate change, and that this scheme isn't 'better than nothing': it's worse than useless.
You can take action
View a special message from Senator Bob Brown on our website at greens.org.au.
You can do three things between now and Saturday to help take real action on climate change:
- Download and copy this flyer and hand it out at Saturday's rally.
- Pick up a great Greens 'Jobs' triangle from your state office (arriving Thursday) and take it to Saturday's rally, or pick one up there, and make sure it's seen! (Afterwards, either return it to your state office for re-use, or put it up somewhere prominent, like a street facing window.)
- Take copies of this petition to the rally and get as many signatures on it as you can.
You can find lots more at http://greens.org.au/resources, including rally location details, leaflets and other material.
See you on Saturday!
Adam Bandt
National Convenor, Australian Greens
P.S. If you can't make it on Saturday, please help us by getting as many signatures as you can on the petition.
